First Track Meet

This saturday, my team will be in its first track meet of the season. I can't wait to race on a track for a change because was beginning to get on my nerves. All we do is practice, all the time and I'm getting tired of it because I want to see what I can do in a race. Everybody on the team is real anxious and can't wait until this weekend especially me. My 4x4oo relay team is real hype to try and win this race. We have been practicing hard even though we don't know yet who will be our 2nd leg. Anybody could step up and fill the role. We have a lot of people who are showing a lot of potential to be great runners for our relay; however, I'm not even sure I'm ready to be in a relay team because I don't know if I can trust my other team members to truly come through and stay ahead so we will have a chance to win. I'm going to run in the relay the first couple meets; however, if they don't come through and show they can be trusted my friend and I aren't going to be on any of the relay teams, and we are the strongest and fastest boys on the team. We, especially me, might have to just go individual until the other members of the relay show they are capable of pulling their weight on the team. In fact everybody needs to show that they are able to pull their weight, even me. This is why I am so anxious for this first meet.

Last Newspaper

This upcoming wednesday will be the last time my class will produce a newspaper for this semester. We need to make this last newspaper our best for we had the whole semester to strengthen and hone our skills. We need to do everything perfect for this last newspaper, so we can party and celebrate on the last several days of the class. I would have to say that it was fun being in the class these kids. We had some really good times, where we all could laugh and have some fun. This last newspaper is going to truly be exclusive because it is the last and we have to do great things to this last issue. I am trying to finish this class with a huge bang, instead of a little boom lol. I hope everybody gets their articles in on time for this newspaper instead of procrastinating until the last possible minute like always.

Results

I feel as though the Thanksgiving edition to the newspaper went well; even though, it wasn't really seen by our public. We will definitely be doing more issues of the SciTech Exclusive just like the Thanksgiving edition. I feel as though it makes the newspaper less information and more interesting, which is great because it captures the easily distracted and bored minds of our student body. We should also write more articles that are more surrounded upon the school; however, this will be hard because at times their isn't much activity going on throughout to school to develop a whole newspaper around. We need to make the newspaper much more captivating with pictures hidden behind articles.

Thanksgiving edition

On monday, our newspaper class just printed its first special edition newspaper. It was called the Thanksgiving edition. I think it was a good newspaper because we as the editors did new things and special effects to make this paper standout more than what we usually do. I really like make special edition newspaper because it really creative and creates a new feel to the school and a new understanding. I feel as though we should make special newspaper editions all the time for every holiday.

Officially Behind

It is official. The SciTech yearbook has fallen pretty deeply behind on its deadlines. We are at least 10 days behind our deadlines and the finish line seems to be nowhere in sight. We have totally fallen behind and I don't even understand how we have dug ourselves in such an enormous hole. At first, I though that we were only a little behind schedule, but later on I come to find out that we are actually 10 days creeping on to 2 weeks behind schedule. I'm starting to doubt that we are even going to finish; however, I can't lose faith on my team.

Sci-Tech Yearbook

The yearbook is starting to fall behind schedule. We are behind on a lot of pages and deadlines aren't getting meet at all. We really need to start concentrating and focusing to get half the yearbook totally completed before we are really behind. I really want a yearbook to remember and look back on when I graduate for high school. I will be really disappointed if we can't produce a yearbook this year.

Today, I am going to stop procrastinating on getting advertisements for the newspaper. Today after practice, I am going to remember to ask my coach and other coaches on whether or not they want to spend money for their teams by placing ads and tributes of them in their yearbook. Today, I think that I can get a couple coaches especially the vollyball and track team coaches to really consider this idea. I feel as though by the end of the day I will lead the yearbook committee in advertisements.

Advertising For The Yearbook

How are you going to advertise our yearbook? This is the big question for our yearbook. We are trying to find financially-sound and easily accomplished ways to raise money for our yearbook. I am at a lost for ideas for raising money for the yearbook, and I am willing to ask people for ideas about raising money.

Time For A Change In The Yearbook!!!

Our yearbook is officially now going to be published. We need to totally finish half of the yearbook for November 6th for the yearbook to be on track to finish the yearbook by the time that school ends. I think that we are going to be able to finish on time; however, it will become a struggle for we have already drifted behind schedule and right now people aren't doing their part to make sure that their yearbook will be finished on time. We need to now buckle down and really start focusing on finishing this yearbook.

Editing The Newspaper!!!

Editing the newspaper can be a very stressful and frustrating job. There are so many things that you have to worry about and so much responsibility that it thrown on to you with the title of newspaper editor. I have to worry about spelling and grammar errors, reporters writing baised, slanted articles belittling people on certain topics, in which later you have to coax the reporter to write another article about the same topic to give an interview. Even though, this job can be very hectic, it is worth it in the end. It's showing me how to take care of my time and on responsibility of others and of what they say; however, it may have nothing to do with me.

Newer/Better/Longer Newspaper

This friday, the newspaper just added 6 more pages to the newspaper, and we improved the quality of articles that we edit in the newspaper. The newspaper should now be much more interesting to read and should captivate its reader more to the point that they do not want to put it down; even during class lol. I feel as though this change to make the newspaper longer will make much more work on my partners and me. The other editors and I will have a lot more articles to read, format, and publish into the paper, which will be a lot more time consuming.

Editing Newspaper Article....LOL

In the Sci Tech newsroom, we have a new way for editing article. We, the editors, have decide to put our names in a hat and randomly pick names for the articles in which they have to edit for grammatical and spelling errors. However, when an enormous article is up for bid, no one wants to be the one whose name is on the chosen piece of paper. Some people even claim that there is way of cheating, but I can't see how anybody can even cheat on it because it is totally random. We also have a limit of how many articles, a person can be responsible for because we still have to write and edit our own articles. Yet, in the end, we all have a good laugh, which is why we- like this style of editing articles.

Senior Life Is Hard

Now being a senior, it was become a hard task. All my upperclass friend told that it would be easy or it will would go by fast; however, it isn't. Especially when you are searching for the perfect college that you plan to live and learn from for the next 4 years of your life. Then on top of that you need to find a school that has a strong program in the field or major that you want to get a degree in, so you can set yourself up for a great paying job for another 20-30 years of your life. After several months, this process becomes hard especially when you do sports, are placed in AP classes, SAT's, and other clubs that will build a strong resume for college. Sometimes I wonder if I can do it all and still become a strong athlete. I begin to think that I might have to drop something for me to balancing everything and still be a honor student in school. However, in the end I just tough it out and continue to work hard because in the end it should all pay off.

Sci-Tech's First Yearbook

Today, we have officially began to work on our school's first yearbook ever. 2010 will be year our school will produce its first paperback yearbook, instead of the traditional CD it has been producing for the last couple of years. I think that it will bea rough, long task creating the first newspaper and setting the standards and expections for the future newspaper to come, but it should also be fun and interesting to be behind the scenes in the making of the newspaper. Hopefully, people will like our newspaper and buy a lot of them, so that we can have money for next year newspaper, so they will be able to upgrade it.

Sci-Tech Exclusive (First Issue)

On Friday, our high school journalism class issued our first newspaper to the school. I was really excited to see people reading it and then coming and talking to him on what they would lke to see in the newspaper for the future. People were even suggesting putting a comic strip on the newspaper to keep people entertained as they make their way through the newspaper. I was really enjoying the input people put into for the newspaper, which showed that they were really interested in what stories and sections go into it.

Second Week Of School

Today, I had to wake up at 7.00 AM to begin only the second week of school, and yet I am already tired of it. I can't wait to graduate. School is getting really boring and stressful with all these essays that I have to write. Plus all the responsibilities with the yearbook. Oh yea, and to all my readers out there, ya'll should all go get a copy of the yearbook when it is published because this year will have a special surprise, and don't forget grab a copy of the Scitech Newspaper. There will be some very interesting stories in there as well. AS ALWAYS CLASS OF '10!!!

The New Class (Sci-Tech Journalism)

Today, our class finally created our own blogs. I'm really starting to enjoy this blogging site, even though I'm not quite finished constructing it yet. Later on in the week, I am going to add more gadgets. This class isn't really a boring class. I should have signed up for this last year, instead of my senior year. Oh yeah and I'm a senior now. Some of ya'll can call me the top dog now. However, high school is going by pretty fast if you look back at it. I remember all the fun times I had in Freshman and Sophomore.
